What is Injection Molding?

The Cons:

Seams and Weak Points: Injection-molded coolers are usually made in multiple pieces and assembled later. These seams are structural weak points that are prone to cracking under stress.

- Lighter Foam: Even the better ones cannot typically use the same density of foam as a rotomolded cooler. They would come apart during the foaming process. This less dense foam saves some weight but costs you ice retention every day.
- Hard to Identify: If you see a cooler body with different colors in one piece and its along a line, its almost always injection molded.

What is Rotomolding (Rotational Molding)?

This mold is then slowly rotated on two axis. As the powder heats and melts, it coats the inside of the mold evenly, creating a single, continuous shape. Instead of seconds this process can take about an hour and that doesn't include the foaming or assembly or removing any flashing.

They also make higher end whitewater kayaks with the same material and process. Pro Tip: Sandstone and White Marble hide blemishes better then dark colors do.
