These are outstanding coolers, keeping food cool for extended times. They are strong and make good steps and seats. My had outstanding performance this week. While I was backpacking up by the Minarrets, my car was parked at the Mammoth Lodge shuttle parking area. A burly bear ripped open my 4Runner’s driver side door, but gave up on getting into my Canyon 55 Cooler. It managed to open one latch, but the other withstood the assault. I now have a few teeth marks at the center handle where you open it. These are bear burly!
The good:
Great colors and design. Love the sandstone, white marble and lighter colors like Havasu. Sleek and minimalist, packable, stackable, tough. Interior dimensions are thoughtful and generally perfect. v2 55 will hold an open Magnum-sized Champagne bottle in the upright/vertical position. Only rectangular cooler in the medium/large category that I am aware of that does so. Bravo Canyon! Good balance of weight, durability and insulation.
The bad: Not a fan of the "fat cam latches" are very sleek and flush when closed but they stick waaaay out and want to snag on legs, dresses etc. if you want to use the Outfitter V2 for a backyard BBQ. The very soft, gummy foam Canyon chose to use as a gasket in this cooler seals really well - too well. With just a little bit of cold meltwater and a bottle of wine in the bottom of my 55L V2 with low 80's temperature yesterday at sea level and no altitude/pressure changes, I found that the lid consistently required between 36 and 38 pounds of force to open. I measured with a luggage scale. This is a major design flaw in my opinion. That's more than the cooler weighs with an 8lb bag of ice and a few drinks which means you have to use two hands to pry the lid apart from the main body. If the cooler is heavily loaded you can open the lid with one hand, but only if you're strong enough to one-arm curl a 40lb dumbbell. That's out of reach for probably 99% of women and most men. I am going to attempt to fix this design flaw by gluing in a small strip of regular freezer gasket close to lid handle but something this obvious should have already been addressed by Canyon especially in "v.2" design iteration. Other than this one "sticking point" - great cooler.

Impressive cooler at a great price
Today we went to the store to purchase a Yeti cooler, but after comparing the Yeti to the Canyon we purchased the Canyon 55. Several features impressed us: seal of the closure; inside space, side walls are vertical and not slanted; warranty; and lastly price.
So far so good. The cooler is just as advertised.I’ll let you know after a trip to New Orleans for the jazz festival.
Just took our cooler for its inaugural trip to Death Valley and it was awesome! It kept everything nice and cold for three days even though it lived in the car as we drove all over the park. I used it with the divider, one of cooler baskets, and two of the clean ice bags. All of them together was perfect for keeping the cooler organized and cold, easy to quickly grab things so we minimized how much the cooler was open. Very happy with our purchase!
It’s the perfect size and finally fits our premade block ice!!! It will save so much ice scrapping time trying to make them fit. Thanks for a quality product. We use ours all the time!

Nice cooler. Held ice for 4 days in the Chihuahuan desert (it was December, tho, so not a true desert-heat test). But I'm knocking off a star because a cooler this high-end and expensive should come with a leash for the drain plug! Even my Walmart RTIC cooler came with metal leashes for all three of its drain plugs.I'll make my own leash--but I shouldn't have to!
Looks great feels great the latches work good has a good seal. Large and small drain opening is nice. A lanyard would probably be good. Put Vaseline on the o ring and washer let it sit with water no leaks. The green is a nice color. Won't really have a chance to check how it performs till this summer. But I have great expectations.
I now have 3 of these coolers. Absolutely love them. Holds ice better than my yeti.

like the color of the cooler and it seals well. I really have a difficult time getting it open when it is sealed especially when it is at a higher level than me like the back of my Bronco, etc.
there is very little space to get your fingers in the indention to pry the cooler lid open.
