We've had this cooler for about 5 years and for the most part have been happy with it. Great capacity to keep drinks and food cold. However, the zipper broke pretty early on. I contacted Canyon but was told I was on my own with that. I sew a zipper on a large patch of vinyl and glue the patch onto the opening of the cooler (2+ years ago). It has been working very well. Now the inside of the cooler inflates so that it is very difficult to put things in it. It is as if the lining inside came unglued from the side of the cooler. We cannot detect any holes anywhere that would cause this. It's a bummer. Canyon has not been helpful with both these problems. These coolers are fairly expensive, and we use them mainly for our outdoors activities (so definitely not year round).

Amazing soft cooler. Ice and beverage temperature survived a long drive followed by a trip down the Moab Daily section of the Colorado River on my inflatable kayak the next day. It was really easy to secure to my IK thanks to the thoughtfully designed robust plastic attachment points - each point has a circular hole that can fit a carabiner for attaching items if you so choose, as well as a horizonal slot through which you can thread cam straps for cinching the cooler down to your boat. Very well designed!

Great cooler to bring on kayak camping adventures. It keeps ice well, extremely well built, and super good value compared with similar coolers from other brands. Definitely a big fan of the Nomad series. Now hopefully they make a 12 or 15 for shorter day trips where the 20 is bigger than necessary.

Bought this cooler to operate as a lightweight version for my Yeti Roadie 20. And it is perfect. The size is great, has the same capacity, and the weight is a quarter the weight of the Yeti. Holds ice well for a day trip, which is what I was looking for.
It works. A lot of people have commented on the (in)convenience factor. It's kind of a pain to use. The zipper is pretty difficult and the way it's designed once you have it unzipped makes for a less than easy access. I know it's supposed to be better at storing ice this way, but for this type of day pack cooler, it could be more easy to use. Also, I'd say a bag of ice didn't last super long in mine. And finally, use an ice pack. Not real ice. I didn't think about that when I first used mine. There isn't a drain plug, and the design of the pack doesn't make for an easy way to get all of the water out.
I love the brand, this just wasn't my fave product.
I been telling everyone on fire camps how great this cooler is! The lightweight nature makes it easy to transport! The material and strap makes it comfortable to carry! And it keeps all my drinks ice cold. Also love the external storage. Might buy the backpack next
I used it for a day trip today. I started by placing it in my shop fridge overnight. I then loaded it with two large synthetic ice blocks and two bottles of water. The average temperature outside for the day was in excess of 88 degrees F. The cooler was left in car while we explored the area on foot. You can guess how hot the inside of the car became while parked in the sun for multiple hours. We then stopped for lunch and had leftovers to bring home. When I opened the cooler to put the leftovers inside, I was amazed that the ice blocks were as cold as when I placed them in the cooler! We then drove one and a half hours back home and everything was still ice cold!

This is a great size for a short road trip or a beach/pool day. Really like having a zip pocket on the front. Having both handles + a shoulder strap is very nice as well.
Nomad 20 cooler is great, keeps stuff cold a long time. It's perfect for canoeing and since it's soft sided it also fits as a airplane carry on with a little squishing. Only complaint is accessing the stuff inside isn't the easiest. Undoing the side buckles certainly helps but still a bit troublesome to get into.

Compact enough to fit on the deck of the can-am X3 but big enough for drinks, sandwiches and snacks. Great for all day use, after a full day ride the next day still had ice. Love it!

Love the size and how cold it keeps my food. A bit of a struggle to get into but very waterproof!
This cooler is really well made and I am sure it will hold ice and keep the contents cold for a long time. However I did not really like the opening-it was a bit awkward and hard to maneuver through the insulation at the top. I use a soft cooler for picnics and quick travel so prefer a larger opening. But if I used it on the river or camping I am sure it would be stellar.

We added the Nomad 20 to our Canyon Family for a week-long trip to San Diego with lots of beach time. Put the shoulder strap to use as well. Loaded the cooler with ice drinks and snacks for the family and carried it half mile down the street to Mission Beach for the day. It kept the good stuff cold all day in the sun without an umbrella. Still had ice inside the following morning at the hotel. Great cooler.
Just finished up a 5 day river trip using this Nomad 20 as our day cooler. It performed very well keeping lunches and snacks cold using one chillin brew pack and a couple lesser performance ice packs. We did add about 3 cups of ice cubes that were offered to us on the third day just as a bonus. Everything remained in great condition throughout the 5 days! I think next time I'll use 2 chillin brew packs and not use any lesser types and add no ice cubes. Great addition to our Canyon hard side so it could remain closed more!
The quality and the value for the money are consistent with what I've come to expect from my friends at Canyon Coolers. This particular cooler did not work out for me. I was looking for a tote that would be easily accommodate small grocery items or a picnic. This one would work better if you were packing cans that need to be kept cool for a long time. The insulation is unique and takes a large portion of the cooler capacity.
Very thick insulation, easy to open and see all contents. Keeps everything cold and easy to carry. Nice alternative when I don't want a heavy hard sided cooler. Really impressed with Canyon, this is a nice compliment to my Outfitter 35.
This is an initial review, once I've had the opportunity to put real world use to it the review will be updated. The Nomad 20 will spend a lot of time in the front passenger seat of my work truck and/or rental when it's not feasible to been the 12v fridge. On average it'll be in the vehicle 9-10 hours a day 4 times a week; 5-6 times a year it'll will be making its way from the southern end of California to the northern end.
After opening the box and a thorough examination the fit and finish appear to be outstanding. The zipper care product was immediately placed in the side pocket and will be used liberally. I can't wait to put it to work.
Purchased this cooler for my son and his girlfriend for Christmas. They were stoked to receive it! Both have worked in the outdoor industry so they had sold Canyon Cooler products before and knew how fabulous they are.They are very excited to add it to their collection!!
My Canyon Cooler is everything I expected. Well designed. I will use it for hunting and fishing trips and short runs to the grocery store.
